War Rank and War Score are nearly as important as gold and experience, if not more so. However, they are relatively hidden compared to other "resources" in Demigod. War Score is gained by controlling flags; control more flags and your war score will increase faster. As your war score reaches certain levels, your War Rank will also increase. Most citadel upgrades - which have numerous important uses, including gaining access to new reinforcements - are only available once you reach a certain war rank.
The exact war scores at which your war rank increases is not obvious, however. Using the "Normal" war score rate option, you will reach each war rank at the following war scores:

Flags in Demigod are meant to provide a way for experienced teams to quickly beat newer ones. For this reason, controlling certain percents of the total flags on the map will provide a bonus to your war score income. Control 75% of the flags and your war score will increase 2x as fast; control only 60% and your war score will increase 1.5x as quickly. This bonus, combined with the advantage that you already have from controlling more flags, can be very very useful. War Score is an important aspect of Demigod; don't underestimate its value.
